What are UV Rays?

While ultra-violet rays are microscopic and invisible to the eyes, it is important to protect your eyes from the rays. If you neglect to protect your eyes, the UV rays can damage your retina and cause cataracts.

How Do Sunglasses Protect My Eyes?

Sunglasses can prevent your eyes from harmful UV rays. You'll want to choose a pair of sunglasses that block 100% of UV rays. Our glasses are labeled with a UV400, which blocks tiny rays up to 400 nanometers. Always wear your glasses when going outdoors on sunny days, even if it is cold cold.

What are Polarized Lenses?

Polarized lenses are designed to reduce glare. Activities like fishing, golfing, boating, and skiing are much more enjoyable and safer with polarized glasses, as these help to prevent your eyes from sunlight.

Should I Wear Prescription Sunglasses?

Once we complete a comprehensive eye exam, we can determine if prescription sunglasses will suit your condition. We offer clip-on lenses and wraparound glasses and can help recommend the treatment that will protect your eyes when it is sunny out.

What Other Protection is Good for My Eyes?

UV-blocking contact lenses and wide brim hats can be beneficial for your eyes in the sunshine. If you are not wearing protective glasses, we recommend limiting your time outside. Along with that, make sure that you receive an annual eye exam, as the exams can detect any conditions and diseases early and help preserve your vision.

How Do You Take Care of Sunglasses?

Caring for your sunglasses is the same as with traditional glasses. We suggest to avoiding any harmful cleaners, such as vinegar or rubbing alcohol, and use wear water or mild dish soap instead. Not only that, but extreme heat can damage the anti-reflective coating. We recommend to limit exposure and keep your glasses clean and, in a case, when not being used.
